Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II to join our team at the City of Clovis, NM. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our wastewater treatment facilities and collection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and conduct tests on wastewater and sludge to ensure compliance with regulations and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Inspect, maintain, and operate treatment facility machinery and equipment, including pumps, bar-screen, vacuums, aerators, compressors, motors, tractors, loaders, rotating bridges, composting equipment, and the belt press.
  • Perform preventive maintenance program on plant equipment, buildings, grounds, and implement.
  • Lead daily activities of employees in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater collection system and the treatment facility.
  • Assist in the attainment of department goals and objectives related to Master, Strategic, and Comprehensive Plans.
Requirements
  • No specific education requirements.
  • One (1) year of experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater plants and facilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that would likely produce the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid driver's license equivalent to a New Mexico Class "B" Commercial driver's license, including the appropriate endorsements (or able to obtain within six (6) months).
  • New Mexico Level II Wastewater Operator Certificate.
Working Conditions

This position requires regular attendance and occasional work beyond normal business hours. You will be working in a wastewater setting with frequent travel to various sites and facilities. You must be able to work in or with water, on slippery or uneven surfaces, airborne particles, potentially toxic and/or caustic chemicals, and extreme temperatures.
