Certified Operating Room Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technician to join our team at West Tennessee Healthcare.
Job Summary:The Certified Surgical Technician will assist the professional nurse or physician in providing optimal patient care, addressing age-specific needs, in the assigned single operating room in a scrub capacity.
Key Responsibilities:- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of principles of asepsis, ensuring proper techniques and practices are maintained, in providing age-specific patient care.
- Identify needed supplies and prepare equipment, packs, and room for patient and procedure, addressing age-specific patient care needs.
- Scrubs, gowns, and gloves self and physician for surgical procedures.
- Handle and pass instruments correctly and insure their proper functionality and storage.
- Insure correct sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
- Insure proper handling of all lab and tissue specimens according to established protocol.
- Assume responsibility for proper handling, sterilization, and stocking of supplies.
- Relieve on cases at or during change of shift, breaks, or meal times, following correct protocol, to insure continuity of care.
- Assist with table and room clean up following procedure, and prepares room for the next procedure within scheduled allocated times.
- Assist in circulating when necessary under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse in a single operating room.
- Access to assist surgeon in operating room as needed.
- Hold current national certification established by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or a Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
- Current BLS Certification.
- Ability to scrub during surgical cases as acquired through three months of department experience.
