We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Chantilly, VA. As a key player in our accounting department, you will be responsible for supporting critical accounting functions, including managing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll, reconciling accounts, and maintaining the general ledger.
Key Responsibilities- Process and maintain accounting functions such as accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Process weekly check runs, expense reports, and manage banking activities, including positive pay/ACH submissions and credit card reconciliations.
- Reconcile payroll reports, ensure accuracy in vendor-prepared payroll tax returns, and process timesheets and labor postings.
- Review AP and AR aging reports, resolve outstanding payments, and generate accurate billings in a timely manner.
- Maintain depreciation schedules and reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Support special projects, ad hoc requests, and assist in developing and implementing accounting control procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree
- 0-2 years of accounting experience, preferably with a solid understanding of general accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint and strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
