Job OverviewSummary:
The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role within the Veterans Health Administration, operating under minimal supervision in the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP). This position requires a high level of skill and dedication to ensure the efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services.

Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Repackaging bulk pharmaceuticals into specified quantities.
  • Conducting quality checks and performing necessary calculations as per standard operating procedures.
  • Managing inventory through automated systems and ensuring stock levels are maintained.
  • Accurately interpreting and filling prescriptions across all areas of CMOP.
  • Monitoring workflow and suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Training new technicians and supporting pharmacy staff in their duties.

Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, or a minimum of three months of relevant experience.
  • Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required for grades GS-6 and above.

Physical and Language Proficiency:
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English, and be prepared for the physical demands of the role, which includes standing for extended periods and lifting supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:
This position is based in a highly mechanized pharmacy setting, requiring adherence to safety protocols and effective communication with team members and patients. The technician will represent the CMOP and the Veterans Health Administration with professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
