Job Summary

Walmart's Indirect Tax Team is seeking a Senior Manager to play a critical role in the company's financial operations. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of transaction taxes charged to customers and members across Walmart and Sam's Club domestic operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the business to advise on the sales tax treatment of new lines of revenue, providing clear communication and guidance to non-tax professionals.
  • Work with the tax data and technology team and the development teams supporting our tax calculation services to establish and execute on their short- and long-term roadmaps.
  • Maintain internal controls over sales tax calculation, including collaborating with internal audit and presenting to external auditors.
  • Implement process improvements to the current workflows of the team.
  • Enforce KPIs to measure team effectiveness and business responsiveness.
  • Conduct tax research and provide technical advice on multi-state issues around sales tax.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, providing ongoing feedback and identifying opportunities for growth.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or a related field; CPA, CMI-Sales Tax or advanced degree in Taxation is a plus.
  • 6+ years of experience in Indirect Tax, preferably with exposure to retail, big 4, or mid-tier firms.
  • 3+ years in a leadership position.
  • Experience in creating and executing standard operating procedures for Sales Tax Operations in a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience advising on the sales and use tax implications of M&A transactions.
  • Knowledgeable about SAP or similar ERP Systems.
  • Experience reviewing sales tax language in proposed legislation.
  • Strong knowledge of sales and use tax, product tax, excise tax, transaction tax, gross receipts tax, and tax technical concepts.
  • Proficiency in tax data analysis and leveraging data to optimize tax strategies.
  • Experience working with multiple jurisdictions and navigating complex tax regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
What We Offer

Walmart offers a competitive salary range of $90,000.00-$180,000.00, annual or quarterly performance bonuses, and additional compensation for certain positions, including stock. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health benefits, financial benefits, paid time off, and more.
