Position Summary:

We are in search of a skilled CNC Machinist to operate within our manufacturing department. The successful candidate will be tasked with setting up, operating, and troubleshooting both CNC and conventional machinery. Proficiency in operating CNC Mills and/or CNC Lathe turning centers is essential, along with the capability to interpret engineering specifications to produce high-precision components. While Level I & II technicians will focus on learning the processes, a Level III machinist is expected to demonstrate independence in machining tasks while adhering to stringent quality standards. A Level IV machinist will also exhibit leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances for finished products, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Operate 3 and/or 4-axis CNC Mills or CNC Lathes, as well as Swiss multiple head turning machines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace following 6S principles.
  • Utilize necessary fixtures, materials, and tools, ensuring proper installation and setup.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying issues and proposing solutions.
  • Perform regular maintenance checks to ensure machine readiness and optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with programming teams to troubleshoot issues during machining operations.
  • Prioritize safety and quality in all production processes.
  • Plan machine setups and operate various CNC machines to meet production targets and tolerances.
  • Conduct first-piece inspections and adjust setups as necessary to maintain quality standards.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and promptly report any discrepancies.
  • Work independently while following detailed instructions and maintaining focus.
  • Utilize measuring tools such as drop indicators, calipers, and micrometers effectively.
  • Perform lapping operations to achieve required dimensions and flatness.
  • Contribute to a high-performance team environment to achieve collective goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong English language skills for reading and interpreting work instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members.
  • Capability to meet customer-specific machining standards and testing requirements.
  • Physical ability to lift and move inventory weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Willingness to stand for extended periods.
  • Skill in following both verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Adherence to all safety regulations and workplace policies.
  • Intermediate math skills for reading prints and determining tolerances.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Experience with Citizen Cincom Lathes (C16, K16) is preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Trade school diploma or certification in CNC operation/machining is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a machine shop environment is required.
  • At least three years of experience operating CNC mills and lathes is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Regular sitting and use of hands.
  • Occasional climbing, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Use of safety equipment such as glasses and proper footwear.
  • Exposure to typical shop elements like noise and dust.

Work Schedule:

This position typically requires a standard workweek, with the possibility of overtime as needed.
