Key Responsibilities

  • Design and simulate neuromorphic cores and complete chip architectures using leading EDA tools.
  • Enhance and optimize the fabrication process for neuromorphic devices and arrays, working within cleanroom environments.
  • Create comprehensive system architectures and block diagrams for neuromorphic SoCs, incorporating ADCs, DACs, microcontrollers, and memory components.
  • Implement and assess signal conditioning circuits, power management systems, and communication interfaces for the neuromorphic chip.
  • Develop and execute thorough testing plans to validate the functionality and performance of fabricated chips.
  • Collaborate with the Materials Engineer to refine device performance and with the Systems Engineer to ensure hardware compatibility with required neuromorphic algorithms.
  • Contribute to the creation of intellectual property (IP) and the publication of scientific papers and patents.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Nanoengineering, or a related discipline, with a solid foundation in semiconductor device physics and circuit design.
  • Practical experience with nanofabrication techniques, particularly EBL, and familiarity with 2D materials and heterostructures is preferred.
  • Expertise in hardware description languages (VHDL/Verilog) and circuit simulation tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys Design Compiler).
  • Experience with FPGA programming and embedded systems design.
  • Understanding of neuromorphic computing principles and spiking neural networks (SNNs) is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their hardware implementation is a plus.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and capacity to work across various levels of abstraction, from nanoscale device fabrication to system-level chip design.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary setting.

What We Provide

  • Competitive compensation package with a significant equity component.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (subject to company growth and funding).
  • Flexible work hours and vacation policy.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • A dynamic and inclusive startup culture that values innovation, creativity, and collaboration.

As a member of our agile startup team, you will have the unique opportunity to influence the trajectory of our technology and make a substantial impact on the future of AI. We seek individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are enthusiastic about the challenges and rewards of building groundbreaking technology from the ground up.

This role is ideal for someone eager to transform cutting-edge materials science into practical, revolutionary computing hardware. You will have the chance to work at the forefront of neuromorphic computing, potentially reshaping the landscape of AI hardware. If you are passionate about innovation and adept at solving complex technical challenges, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
