Our goal is to establish a new paradigm in computing architecture tailored for the artificial intelligence era.

We are dedicated to developing brain-inspired, energy-efficient computing systems that are scalable and capable of real-time learning and adaptation for edge AI applications.

Our team comprises passionate innovators, researchers, and engineers committed to redefining the possibilities within neuromorphic computing.

Role Overview

We are in search of a creative and proficient Neuromorphic Hardware Engineer to spearhead the development of our state-of-the-art neuromorphic chip prototype.

In this capacity, you will engage at the crossroads of novel materials and sophisticated circuit design, translating these into operational neuromorphic systems. You will work collaboratively to design, fabricate, and evaluate neuromorphic devices, integrating them into comprehensive chip solutions.

This position presents a unique chance to influence the future of AI hardware, utilizing cutting-edge nanofabrication techniques and expanding the horizons of neuromorphic computing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and simulate neuromorphic cores and complete chip architectures using leading EDA tools.
  • Develop and refine the fabrication process for neuromorphic devices and arrays within cleanroom environments.
  • Create comprehensive system architectures and block diagrams for neuromorphic SoCs, incorporating ADCs, DACs, microcontrollers, and memory components.
  • Implement and evaluate signal conditioning circuits, power management systems, and communication interfaces for the neuromorphic chip.
  • Develop and execute thorough testing plans to validate the functionality and performance of produced chips.
  • Collaborate with the Materials Engineer to enhance device performance and with the Systems Engineer to ensure hardware compatibility with required neuromorphic algorithms.
  • Contribute to the creation of intellectual property (IP) and the publication of scientific papers and patents.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Nanoengineering, or a related discipline, with a solid foundation in semiconductor device physics and circuit design.
  • Hands-on experience with nanofabrication techniques, particularly EBL, and familiarity with 2D materials and heterostructures is preferred.
  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (VHDL/Verilog) and circuit simulation tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys Design Compiler).
  • Experience with FPGA programming and embedded systems design.
  • Understanding of neuromorphic computing principles and spiking neural networks (SNNs) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and their hardware implementation is a plus.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and capacity to operate at various levels of abstraction, from nanoscale device fabrication to system-level chip design.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary setting.

What We Provide

  • Competitive compensation package with a substantial equity component.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (subject to company growth and funding).
  • Flexible work hours and vacation policy.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • A dynamic and inclusive startup culture that values innovation, creativity, and collaboration.

We are a lean and agile startup team passionate about transforming the field of neuromorphic computing. As an early member, you will have the unique opportunity to influence the trajectory of our technology and make a significant impact on the future of AI. We seek individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are excited about the challenges and rewards of building something groundbreaking from the ground up.

This role is ideal for someone eager to translate cutting-edge materials science into practical, revolutionary computing hardware. You will have the chance to work at the forefront of neuromorphic computing, potentially reshaping the landscape of AI hardware. If you are passionate about innovation, possess a talent for solving complex technical challenges, and wish to make a lasting impact on the future of computing, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
