Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Program Manager to lead the operations of our CDSS department, ensuring program goals are achieved while providing direct support to department supervisors. This role is primarily responsible for CDDS program oversight and collaborating with department supervisors to ensure contract compliance with the California Department of Education child care subsidy contracts.

Responsibilities
  • Program Oversight: Provide guidance on proposed contract changes, offer input to funders regarding their impact on customer service and workload; ensure the contract is implemented as required by the CDSS.
  • Analyze key program indicators to guarantee program viability.
  • Develop strategies aligned with agency goals, contract requirements, and productivity enhancement.
  • Serve as the agency representative for CDSS.
  • Establish communication lines with external stakeholders (CDSS, LA Alliance agencies, CAPPA etc.) and represent the program and agency at professional organizations, community meetings, trainings, and meetings with funding agencies.
  • Ensure quality customer service at every level within the department. Develop incentives for staff who consistently demonstrate higher levels of quality customer service while maintaining program standards.
  • Facilitate inter-departmental communication regarding general work with other departments.
Supervision Responsibilities
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide department supervisors, identifying staff development and training needs.
  • Provide direction, leadership, and coaching to department supervisors through regular check-ins.
  • Ensure performance goals are set and met using performance expectations and standards clearly communicated to staff.
  • Resolve conflicts effectively and follow disciplinary procedures, conducting fair and impartial performance appraisals using agency policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science/Arts degree from an accredited university in Health Education, Social Services or related field; relevant work experience in human services/health education/child development may be substituted for college-level education.
  • Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience managing a staff of at least 4-8 people.
  • 1-2 years demonstrated experience increasing workflow processes, work effectiveness, and compliance within a department.
  • Knowledge of the child care subsidy contracts funded by the California Department of Education and the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Social Services.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and customer relations skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask in a collaborative team environment with a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency in computer word processing and spreadsheet programs, including MS Office.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Estimated Salary Range

$60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
