Position Summary:
  • The Fitness Training Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the club provides an exceptional fitness experience for all members.
  • Upholds company standards and sets a positive example for the team. Ensures team members consistently adhere to guidelines regarding punctuality, appearance, friendliness, and cleanliness.
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, and nurturing a proficient team of Personal Trainers.
  • Accountable for achieving departmental goals, including revenue targets and member retention rates.
  • Acts as the go-to expert for fitness knowledge within the club.

  • This role directly oversees the following position:
    • Personal Trainers
Key Responsibilities:
The Fitness Training Supervisor is tasked with the following duties:

Staffing and Development [10% of time]
Maintain a motivated and high-performing fitness team that aligns with the company's values and objectives. To achieve this, the Supervisor will:
  • Recruit, develop, and manage the performance of qualified Personal Trainers.
  • Train and guide other staff as necessary regarding fitness and supplementation, emphasizing their importance for member retention.
  • Conduct regular meetings with direct reports to review performance and provide direction, motivation, and guidance toward achieving both individual and company goals.
  • Manage the Personal Trainer schedule while adhering to budgeted non-session hours.
  • Address employee relations matters for all fitness staff.
  • Implement disciplinary actions under the guidance of your direct supervisor.
Fitness Management [30% of time]
Ensure that all club members have access to a well-trained and professional fitness staff capable of providing fitness counseling, training, and programs that meet Crunch standards. The Supervisor is responsible for achieving fitness and supplement revenue goals. To meet these objectives, the Supervisor will:
  • Ensure Personal Trainers deliver high-quality programs to their clients.
  • Create weekly work schedules for fitness staff and ensure accurate recording of Time & Labor.
  • Ensure compliance with Time and Labor guidelines and manage overtime according to company policies.
  • Provide member service and support related to fitness services.
  • Oversee the accurate administration of Personal Training services.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and yearly revenue objectives set by the company regarding personal training services and supplements.
  • Recruit, train, and develop new Personal Trainers.
  • Regularly update staff on industry trends and ensure Personal Trainers maintain professionalism in client training.
Sales and Service [60% of time: club specific]
Engage in direct execution support within the fitness area.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Familiarity with Crunch Certified Personal Training Program and related software.
  • Understanding of Personal Training techniques and program design.
  • Ability to operate all club equipment.
  • Experience in coaching and motivating groups.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a friendly, enthusiastic, and positive demeanor.
  • Strong focus on member service.
  • Professional response to inquiries from guests, members, and staff.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Certifications:
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
  • Certified Personal Trainer
  • American Council on Exercise (ACE)
  • Personal Trainer Certification
  • The Cooper Institute
  • International Fitness Professionals Association (IFPA)
  • National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
Experience:
  • 1-2 years as a Personal Trainer preferred.
  • Prior management experience in a related field leading a team preferred.
  • Consultative sales experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a club environment; move throughout club floors and rooms; manage club paperwork; communicate effectively with employees, members, and the public.
  • Regularly required to demonstrate or explain proper fitness activities and techniques. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel by car and airplane as needed.
