We are seeking an experienced Automotive OBD and Electric Architecture Expert to lead the development and implementation of On-Board Diagnostics systems and electric architectures for our next-generation vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) systems for compliance with regulatory requirements, including OBD-II standards and emissions regulations.
  • Define and document OBD diagnostic strategies, fault detection and isolation (FDI) algorithms, and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) generation rules for various vehicle subsystems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate OBD functionalities into vehicle electronic control units (ECUs) and embedded software.
  • Conduct OBD system validation and verification activities, including simulation, testing, and analysis, to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic performance.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in automotive OBD technologies, standards, and regulations, and provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and optimization of electric architectures for vehicle systems, including power distribution, energy management, and communication networks.
  • Define and document electric architecture requirements, specifications, and interfaces, and ensure compliance with industry standards and cybersecurity principles.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in automotive diagnostics, with a focus on On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) systems and regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of OBD-II standards and protocols, including SAE J1979, SAE J2012, ISO 15031, and relevant emissions regulations.
  • Experience with OBD diagnostic tools and software, such as scan tools, diagnostic trouble code (DTC) readers, and OBD diagnostic software suites.
  • Strong understanding of automotive electric architectures, including power distribution, network topologies, communication protocols, and vehicle electrification technologies.
  • Familiarity with automotive cybersecurity principles and best practices for securing OBD and electric architecture systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Previous experience in automotive diagnostics development for electrified vehicles or hybrid electric vehicles.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards and methodologies, such as ISO 26262, for automotive electronic systems.
  • Experience with model-based development (MBD) tools and methodologies, such as MATLAB/Simulink, for OBD and electric architecture design and validation.
Working Conditions:

This job operates in a port and office environment. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, move, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift.

The hiring range for this position is between $120,000 to $160,000, commensurate with the candidate's level of experience.
