Position Overview: We are seeking a Part-Time hybrid Medical Assistant / Patient Coordinator (Medical Coordinator) for our team. The Medical Coordinator will deliver exceptional clinical and administrative support to both patients and providers. We welcome candidates with no prior experience but who possess a keen interest in healthcare, teamwork skills, and attention to detail, along with a flexible schedule.
Work Schedule: Part-time, under 30 hours per week. Flexibility to assist in a collaborative team environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a professional and inviting atmosphere that enhances service quality and patient care. Lead by example and maintain a high level of professionalism.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of all standard operating procedures and policies.
- Assist providers in medical, cosmetic, and laser procedures, demonstrating thorough knowledge of clinical treatments to meet patient needs. Be proficient in pre-care and post-care instructions.
- Ensure all equipment is functional at the start of each shift and maintain treatment rooms before and after patient visits.
- Manage inventory responsibilities and stock supplies as required.
- Complete all necessary training to adhere to new workflows, including patient notifications and messaging.
- Support providers in documenting prescribed treatments, medications, and procedures in accordance with established guidelines.
- Handle payments, schedule follow-up appointments, and track inventory used during visits.
- Adhere to HIPAA privacy regulations by safeguarding patient information during communications.
- Assist in creating new medical records for patients, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected.
- Complete daily activity reports and manage financial duties, including entering charges and payments.
- Maintain accurate cash handling procedures and ensure proper documentation of financial transactions.
- Answer incoming calls promptly and manage appointment confirmations and patient retention communications.
- Keep the workspace organized and ensure sensitive patient information is securely handled.
- Regularly check email and manage time-sensitive communications effectively.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Preferred 6 months to 1 year of experience in a dermatology or medical setting.
- Familiarity with EMR software and patient scheduling systems is advantageous.
- A High School Diploma or GED is required; advanced education is encouraged.
- Medical Assistant certification is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and dedication.
- Open availability to work during scheduled hours is necessary.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance is important.
