Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team.
Job Summary:The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide patient care following established standards and practices. This role will assist the physician, nurse, and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and patient access. The LPN will coordinate patient flow, schedules appointments, procedures, tests, and referrals. This role may serve as a preceptor for clinical staff and relies on guidelines to accomplish tasks.
Responsibilities:1. Patient Care:- Observe, record, and report patient's condition and reaction to drugs and/or treatments. Instruct patient/family regarding diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and health/wellness issues.
- Perform selected nursing duties, including documenting patient history, vital signs, immunizations, and allergies. Prepare, stock, and clean exam room and maintain supplies and equipment for treatment.
- Provide complex and basic nursing care measures to all age groups. Assist physician with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.
- Responsible for appointment and referral scheduling, chart management, providing information and instructions to patients, and coordinating patient flow.
- Prepare exam room and assist physician during examination, treatment, and testing of patient.
- Administer prescribed medications/treatments in accordance with nursing standards. May perform phlebotomy and EKG's and assist with flex sigmoidoscopies.
- Observe and adhere to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, and follow all safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
- Utilize all equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources in a prudent and efficient manner in order to ensure efficient departmental operations and the provision of high-quality health care services.
- Observe and adhere to quality standards established by the department. Participate in continuous quality improvement programs in order to foster the provision of quality health care services by the department and hospital and ensures that all services are provided with compassion, understanding, and respect for others.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure:
- Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Licensure: Current Louisiana State license as RN and BLS certification
