About the Position:

The Fidelity Foundations' regional program is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join its team as a Program Officer. This role will be responsible for developing, managing, and evaluating a portfolio of philanthropic investments focused on capacity-building in select regions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the local context, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement grantmaking strategies across sector areas of focus
  • Identify and cultivate potential grant opportunities through relationship-building and prospecting activities
  • Assess and advance promising proposals and organizations through due diligence and site visits
  • Develop and refine proposal requests and grant recommendations for senior management and Trustee approval
  • Participate in research agenda and strategy development with the Foundations' Strategy and Impact team
  • Evaluate grant effectiveness and portfolio performance
  • Support grant administrative processes and provide expertise to other program areas as needed

  • A minimum of 8 years of related work experience in philanthropy or non-profit management

  • A proven track record of delivering against goals and objectives
  • Developed areas of special knowledge or expertise, with a demonstrated interest and commitment to becoming expert in a variety of issue areas
  • Ability to multi-task and work flexibly and creatively within a fast-moving, changing, and complex environment
  • Exceptional judgment, integrity, humility, and respect for confidentiality

Compensation and Benefits:

The Fidelity Foundations offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, an annual performance-based bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. This position will be based in Boston, MA on a hybrid schedule with a weekly requirement to work in-person with colleagues. Successful candidates will need to undergo a comprehensive background check.
