Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our neonatal care team, you will provide high-quality patient care, collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of evidence-based practice protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical assessments, treatments, and clearances for patients, employees, and external customers.
  • Develop and implement appropriate plans of care, facilitating patient teaching and support programs.
  • Evaluate current protocols and standards of care, translating best practices into clinical practice.
  • Apply evidence and value-based practices to achieve positive outcomes for patients.
  • Prescribe medications and recommend over-the-counter medications as appropriate.
  • Initiate laboratory tests, immunizations, and diagnostic tests/procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and consult with other healthcare team members effectively.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, providing accurate and systematic documentation of findings, recommendations, and education.
  • Participate in continuing education and maintain documentation of personal development.
  • Provide culturally diverse and educationally appropriate education to patients and families.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, patients, and other multidisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in policy/procedure reviews and updates with current evidence-based and value-based practices.
  • Act as a resource to staff for addressing clinical, process, and system opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote a collaborative work environment that supports the organizational mission, behavior expectations, and values.
  • Promote innovation within clinical practice by seeking opportunities to bring new clinical knowledge into practice.
  • Identify ethical care issues and coordinate interdisciplinary collaborative meetings to resolve those issues.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing.
  • Master's Degree.
  • Maintains clinical competencies through participating in continuing educational programs and clinical practice as mandated by the Board of Nursing and national certification body.
  • Experience in a relevant patient care setting or as regulations dictate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Prepared Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.
Required Licenses and Certifications
  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Certification (with Master's Degree).
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications
  • CPR certification.
