As a Field Engineer, Pavements, you will provide critical support to our engineering and technical teams on various construction-related projects involving pavements and materials. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the successful execution of these projects.
Key Responsibilities- Assist engineers and technicians with project duties, including laboratory testing and field observation of construction materials.
- Perform inspections, observations, and testing services to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Conduct testing and classifications on soil, aggregate, asphalt, bedrock, and other materials.
- Perform geotechnical testing and monitoring, including geoprobe soil borings and pavement coring.
- Coordinate technicians to perform testing services and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation, including test results, evaluations, and recommendations.
- Maintain client and in-house communication, including daily site visit reports and project updates.
- Assist in developing and implementing QA/QC procedures and policies for the Division.
- Review plans and specifications, and prepare task and limited project-specific proposals.
- Maintain project files in accordance with AET's QA procedures and requirements.
- Prepare timely invoices and pursue aged accounts.
- Assist in training technicians and ensure they are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological curriculum, or other acceptable engineering discipline.
- 0-3 years of related experience.
- Ability to achieve professional registration (PE or PG).
- Internship or previous work experience preferred, but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of fundamental engineering or scientific principles within the specialty area.
- Experience using personal computer software, especially Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work at environmental remediation, industrial, and construction sites, and perform field work, including collecting samples, operating field instruments, and documenting field activities.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data, accurately observing and recording field activities, and reading plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Effective communication skills to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to interact successfully with a wide variety of people, work effectively within project teams, and resolve issues and problems in a constructive manner.
- Willingness to travel and adjust personal schedules to meet project and client needs.
- Capable of physical labor required, with personal protective equipment, and ability to occasionally move 50 to 100 pounds.
This role primarily operates in a field environment in outdoor conditions, on construction sites with uneven ground and adverse weather conditions. The role also operates in an office environment and uses standard office equipment.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee will occasionally push or pull equipment weighing up to 200 pounds. The employee is required to frequently work outside.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
