Reliability Engineer Job Description

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Reliability Engineer to join our team. As a Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain the reliability program.
  • Perform predictive maintenance routes, including Electrical IR, Mechanical IR, Ultrasonic Lubrication, Ultrasonic Leak Detection, and Machinery Lubrication Analysis.
  • Perform Facilities Asset Condition Assessments.
  • Review the installation process and assess the reliability of newly installed assets.
  • Measure and optimize system performance.
  • Ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety systems.
  • Provide input to a risk management plan.
  • Identify potential project problems or opportunities and analyze issues to develop the optimum approach to mitigating and/or exploiting problems.
  • Identify opportunities, perform root cause analysis, and develop reliability standards associated with proprietary machine tools and testing.
  • Generate and follow through to completion all Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for improved reliability of key assets and value.
  • Lead overall completion of Root Cause and Corrective Actions.
  • Support MRO Specialist with the creation of critical spares generation and share responsibility for ongoing spare parts management program that meets the site's operational needs.
  • Lead weekly continuous improvement activities and communicate wins and barriers to client and Amentum management.
  • Perform high-level maintenance planning and materials.
  • Plan for shutdowns and turnarounds.
  • Develop predictive maintenance strategies and training tools.
  • Perform risk-based asset management and root cause.
  • Support various special projects, asset management, troubleshooting, and metric and performance measurement development.
  • Manage the use and implementation of Real Wear headsets at the site for optimal reliability training for all maintenance technicians.
  • Use of predictive maintenance tools (IR, Ultrasound, Vibration, Lubrication Analysis).
Requirements:
  • 2 years of experience in engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance projects involving planning/scheduling, or a related field.
  • Experience with a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as MAXIMO, EAMS, or other database systems.
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for several types of respirators.
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client's location.
  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen. Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Technical degree preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in best-in-class maintenance practices and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrated performance as a Reliability Engineer on previous industrial/manufacturing projects in the Facility/Process Maintenance Management Industry.
  • Demonstrated technical background of operations in an industrial/manufacturing/research facilities environment, including experience related to production equipment projects.
  • Ability to focus on customer relations and client partnering.
  • Certifications in Level I Ultrasound, Vibration, IR, or Oil/Lubrication.
  • Experience working in a GMP or similar regulated environment such as hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses.
  • Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
  • Experience working with heavy industrial or manufacturing plant steam systems, centrifugal chillers, air handling units, turbines, boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, pneumatic controls, and building automation control systems.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); EAMS experience is a plus.
  • Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
