Job Summary

The Director of Nursing Labor and Delivery Room is a key member of the MedStar Health team, responsible for leading the nursing team in the Labor and Delivery department. This role requires a strong leader who can create a positive and supportive work environment, promote excellent patient care, and ensure the highest standards of nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the nursing team in the Labor and Delivery department, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent patient care.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Recruit, train, and develop nursing staff to ensure the highest standards of nursing practice.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or health-related field from a nationally accredited program preferred.
  • 5-7 years of nursing experience, with 1-2 years of management and leadership experience preferred.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in Maryland required.
  • Specialty certification from a nationally recognized nursing organization in either his/her clinical specialty or Nursing Administration within 2 years required.
