Phlebotomy Specialist

Job Summary:
Rivers Health is seeking a per-diem phlebotomist for the Outreach Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing phlebotomy services to outreach facilities and nursing homes on a regular scheduled basis. This includes delivering specimens to the laboratory department, assisting with registration and distribution of obtained specimens, and maintaining confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain patient lab requisitions and collect specimens as ordered by physicians.
- Use established direct identification processes to collect specimens.
- Provide phlebotomy and courier services to outside accounts using private or corporate-owned vehicles.
- Ensure adequate supplies are available to complete anticipated volumes of testing.
- Follow safety and infection control policies of the laboratory and hospital.
- Participate in all mandated inservice programs on an annual basis.
- Demonstrate excellence in customer service skills.
- Foster an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
- Participate in the performance improvement process.
- Comply with corporate policies, departmental policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
Education and Formal Training:
Completion of high school or equivalent, plus certification by ASCP desirable. A valid driver's license with a good driving record is also required.
Work Experience:
Three to six months of experience preferred.
