Clinical Nurse II Float

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse II Float to join our team at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will provide direct patient care to various medical/surgical units, including Oncology, Pulmonary, Gynecology/Urology, Surgical, and Telemetry. Your primary responsibility will be to assess and document a complete physical assessment, nursing interventions, teaching, and discharge needs for patients assigned to each shift.
You will also have the opportunity to float to both Hoag Hospital Newport Beach and Hoag Hospital Irvine, and receive an additional 5% to your base pay rate. As a Clinical Nurse II Float, you will be expected to participate in our continuous quality improvement process and maintain a working knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities- Assess and document a complete physical assessment, nursing interventions, teaching, and discharge needs for patients assigned to each shift.
- Communicate changes in the patient's condition to the Charge Nurse/Supervisor and the physician directing care.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapy with the ability to assess the appropriate indication, dosing, and effects of the medication administered.
- Assess the educational ability/level for the patient, incorporating available educational material into patient/significant other instruction and documenting understanding in the patient record.
- Appropriately assess, intervene, and care for the adult/geriatric patient, family, and significant other requiring emotional support, coping support, and care for significant life changes and end-of-life issues.
- Active California RN License.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Successful completion of an EKG course or equivalent.
- A minimum of two to three (2 to 3) years of clinical nurse experience in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). If you haven't obtained a BSN upon hire, you will be asked to begin a BSN program within one year of the hire date and obtain your BSN within two years of starting the program.
- BSN.
- Certification in a nursing specialty.
- Additional skills and knowledge of various equipment and software may be required.
