Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Housing Counselor to join our team at the Jacksonville Housing Authority. As a Housing Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional service to our clients, ensuring their needs are met, and helping them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Initial Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of individuals interested in Section 8 housing, Project Based Housing, Moderate Rehab, and other programs under the Jacksonville Housing Authority.
  • Annual Re-certifications: Conduct annual re-certifications in accordance with established procedures, ensuring compliance with HUD regulations.
  • Client Support: Provide ongoing support to clients, including verifying income and other data, maintaining accurate records, and making interim adjustments as needed.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Program Administration: Assist in the overall operation of the department, including scheduling appointments, generating reports, and performing rental subsidy calculations.
Requirements
  • Education: Two years of experience in housing programs, case management, social services, public administration, business administration, sociology, psychology, tenant relations, or a related field.
  • Skills: Knowledge of HUD and organizational regulations, policies, and procedures; ability to counsel with low-income clients; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Core Competencies: Commitment, Customer Service, Effective Communication, Responsiveness and Accountability, Teamwork, and Adaptability.
