SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of supervisory personnel, engages in a range of activities aimed at delivering financial support, including monitoring revenue and expenditures, generating financial reports, preparing budget requests and forecasts, and conducting statistical analysis, along with other assigned responsibilities.

This position may be allocated within various divisions of the Budget and Finance Department. Employees in this role are expected to uphold a professional appearance and conduct.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists the Budget Manager in formulating budgets, amendments, line item reallocations, and forecasts while overseeing budgeted line items, including payroll fringe rates.
  • Monitors budget expenditures, conducts research, compiles and summarizes information from diverse sources for special projects and reports.
  • Prepares and supervises the generation of various internal financial reports and schedules (monthly, quarterly, annual, and/or final close-out). Participates in year-end closing procedures related to general ledger and grant obligations. Aids in data collection for the preparation of the Court Cost Plan.
  • Ensures compliance with funding requirements for all necessary documentation related to the procurement of goods, services, and/or equipment, ensuring proper allocation to the appropriate funding source.
  • Performs accounting functions such as maintaining financial records, developing and documenting recommendations for enhancing accounting systems and procedures, reconciling accounts, managing court-related payments, suspense accounts, controlling inventory, auditing cash receipts and financial transactions, and estimating revenues and expenditures.
  • Conducts performance and trend analysis of third-party court revenue.
  • Maintains current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, financial systems, federal and state regulations, and contemporary accounting standards.
  • Maintains assigned spreadsheets.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in budgeting or accounting within the last five (5) years.
  • General understanding of government finance, budgeting, and auditing, along with database and accounting software applications.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and relevant Court software and systems.

This examination is open to all individuals who meet the minimum qualifications.

A person may not participate in an open competitive examination for the same title until ninety (90) days have elapsed since their last examination.
