Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Principal Airworthiness Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of our aircraft systems, from design to delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement airworthiness plans, basis of certifications, and means of compliance for complex aircraft systems.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering disciplines and external stakeholders to ensure airworthiness compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform functional and process analyses, requirements allocation, and definition studies to translate customer requirements into system solutions.
  • Interface with Office of Airworthiness, Program IPTs, Program Office, and Customer community as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a related STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Work experience on manned or unmanned aircraft systems with minimum 6 years professional experience, with at least 3 years in an assignment working Airworthiness (Military or Civil).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance, can start employment with Interim TS and active DoD Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Top Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • NAVAIR Airworthiness and Cybersafe Office (formerly 4.0P) Airworthiness Experience.
  • Experience with Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) and / or Vehicle Control Functions (VCF).
