We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert phlebotomy services and ensuring the highest level of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections in accordance with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Receives and reviews physician orders, ensuring all necessary information is included for appropriate lab services.
- Enter accurate orders for lab tests in accordance with department policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Process specimens in a timely manner to ensure stability and integrity of samples.
- Review and record refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records, reporting any areas of concern to maintenance for repair.
- Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to biohazard waste procedures and ensuring proper storage and timely pickup of biohazardous waste.
- Perform lab-related clerical duties, including order entry, verification of test result receipt, patient information retrieval, and supply inventory management.
- OBGYN experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4pm, and occasional weekends.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to function as part of a highly effective team that consistently puts patients first.
