Job Title: Diagnostic Imaging Technologist

Job Summary:

The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist performs routine and/or specialized diagnostic imaging exams using computed tomography (CT) scanners. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure safe patient care and adhere to established Medical Imaging requirements and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and examine requisitions for procedures to ensure awareness of study requests and patient conditions.
  • Consistently produce high-quality CT scans and radiographs.
  • Question patients before procedures to obtain medical history and document relevant information.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of human structure and function, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic exposure, and specialized techniques.
  • Operate CT and radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
  • Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to examination specifications.
  • Perform basic nursing functions in regard to patient care.
  • Maintain familiarity with cross-sectional anatomy and Quality Assurance requirements of all equipment in assigned areas.
  • Perform aseptic technique and procedures pertaining to all exams.
  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and ensure equipment remains in working order.
  • Retrieve orders from and input related data into the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
  • Valid New York State license to practice Diagnostic Radiography.
  • Valid New York State license to inject contrast material preferred; must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Either a valid and current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification in another modality such as X-ray, MG, or MRI or cross-trained to perform the functions of another modality.

Working Conditions:

The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist will work in an environmentally controlled medical office environment with occasional high-pressure or emergent situations. Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer are expected, with intermittent interruptions. Ability to perform prolonged or extensive standing, walking, and/or traversing is required.
