Position Overview

WSP is excited to announce an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer within our Buildings group. This role is essential for providing expert technical support and direction across various projects in both public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough analysis and synthesis of data from diverse sources, including site surveys, technical drawings, and project documentation to inform design and construction processes.
  • Execute advanced mechanical engineering tasks, performing inspections and evaluations of existing and proposed systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Formulate detailed construction plans, specifications, and cost assessments while coordinating with stakeholders to align project objectives.
  • Utilize cutting-edge technology and modeling techniques to enhance the design and operational efficiency of mechanical systems.
  • Provide technical guidance on automatic temperature control, air distribution, hydronic systems, and plumbing to ensure optimal performance and adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver project outcomes that meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and visual presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control measures to ensure precision in measurements and reporting.
  • Support the development and management of medium-scale projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Draft technical documentation that articulates research findings and proposes solutions to design and construction challenges.
  • Assist in the evaluation of field data and contribute to the formulation of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain effective communication with regulatory bodies and clients.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mechanical engineering to continually enhance project delivery.
  • Work in partnership with engineers and planners on federally and locally funded projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Exhibit ethical decision-making and uphold company policies in all professional interactions.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as necessary to meet business needs.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering and design.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in building and infrastructure design and construction management.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable practices.
  • Ability to perform technical calculations and analyses.
  • Project management experience for small to mid-sized projects.
  • Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and design software.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies.
  • Flexibility to accommodate project-specific schedules.
  • Willingness to travel as required by project needs.
Preferred:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Licensure/Certification.
  • Experience managing small to mid-size projects.
