Key Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of and contribute to the innovation and enhancement of both new and existing products and subsystems.
  • Conduct thorough analyses on designs, utilizing hand calculations, CAD, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Create intricate 3D models and designs for drone/UAV components using SOLIDWORKS software.
  • Support the refinement and advancement of design methodologies and standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical challenges related to design and manufacturing processes.
  • Establish validation testing criteria and oversee component-level evaluations to ensure compliance with system performance requirements.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles, incorporating vendor feedback into the design process.
  • Oversee mechanical assembly documentation, ensuring adherence to quality control verification standards for inspections.
  • Develop and sustain necessary manufacturing guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Expertise in SOLIDWORKS for 3D modeling and design.
  • Strong grasp of engineering principles, best practices, and design methodologies.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Proven experience collaborating on electromechanical designs with other engineering disciplines.
  • Extensive knowledge of part tooling processes, along with a solid understanding of material limits and properties.
  • Demonstrated success in bringing products to market.
  • Fluency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and analytical structural analysis techniques.
Additional Desired Skills:
  • Prior experience in drone/UAV design engineering roles.
  • Familiarity with materials science and manufacturing techniques.
  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, including heat transfer, EMI, and shock and vibration.
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication tools such as drills, bandsaws, and angle grinders.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of uncertainty.
Physical Requirements:
  • Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods as required by job responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in navigating office, manufacturing, and other work environments.
  • Skillful use of hands and fingers for tasks such as creating 3D CAD models and drawings.
  • Clear vision for precision tasks and attention to critical dimensions and quality control specifications.
