The Robert C. Byrd Clinic is currently seeking a dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our team.
Position Overview:
The ADON plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal patient care while adhering to established regulations and best practices concerning sanitation, infection control, and patient confidentiality. This is achieved through regular monitoring, providing ongoing education, orienting new staff, and actively participating in patient care. The ADON will collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing to evaluate, enhance, and implement nursing initiatives that promote staff development and improve patient flow, ultimately enriching the patient experience.
Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited RN program; BSN preferred.
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of nursing principles, practices, and protocols.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and payer regulations regarding nursing, including patient safety and confidentiality.
- Proficient in medical terminology.
- Awareness of quality assurance, risk management, and performance improvement standards.
- Expertise in time management and task prioritization.
- Proficient in human resource management, from recruitment to performance evaluation.
- Adept at utilizing computerized systems for data analysis and recommendations.
- Experience in budget development and maintaining cost-effective nursing practices.
- Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and problem-solving in nursing contexts.
- Effective communication with all organizational levels regarding nursing matters.
- Capable of presenting to senior management, public groups, and staff.
- Collaborative approach with senior leaders to enhance clinical operations.
- Proficient in using Athenahealth EHR, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software.
- At least five years of nursing experience.
- Preferred experience in a clinical environment similar to RCBC.
- Experience with progressively increasing management responsibilities is advantageous.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Nursing
Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees Pod Leaders/Charge Nurses
FLSA Status: Exempt
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing in planning, budgeting, and policy development related to nursing operations.
- Effectively communicate and enforce compliance with nursing policies and procedures.
- Maintain coordination with all departments to ensure seamless patient workflow.
- Ensure that patient care is delivered in a safe environment, minimizing the risk of medical errors.
- Facilitate staff training in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement standards.
- Monitor nursing practices concerning fiscal responsibilities, identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
- Work with human resources and nursing leaders to recruit and train new staff.
- Engage with medical staff and community agencies to enhance nursing service quality.
- Participate in clinic-wide performance improvement initiatives.
- Stay informed about relevant regulations and standards, updating nursing practices as necessary.
- Oversee infection control measures and staff compliance.
- Provide regular staff education and training sessions.
- Evaluate workflows by working shifts in various areas to identify efficiency improvements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Report to work punctually and adhere to the dress code.
- Complete annual education and training requirements.
- Maintain a positive and professional representation of the organization.
- Engage in departmental meetings and resolve staff concerns appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with policies regarding operations, safety, and infection control.
- Communicate organizational goals and ethics effectively.
