Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional works on an interdisciplinary team that delivers superior quality of service and provides appropriate activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists Clients in basic living skills and daily personal tasks, including showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and financial budgeting
  • Provides transportation to and from activities and appointments as needed, requiring a valid Arkansas Driver's License
  • Maintains good communication with staff regarding client needs and progress toward their plan of care
  • Accurately completes all documentation required by FCC, including Behavioral Reports, Incident Reports, and Progress Reports
  • Follows proper medication management guidelines and assists in monitoring and documenting these procedures
  • Organizes and carries out recreational activities for clients
  • Treats clients and their families with dignity and respect at all times, representing FCC's mission in all interactions
  • Maintains FCC facilities and grounds, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness
  • Attends necessary training and continuing education
  • Provides proof of liability insurance and keeps current

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two+ years experience working with developmentally disabled individuals. Must also have a valid driver's license.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • The Code of Conduct and Compliance Investigation Procedures as read and discussed in the new employee training must be followed at all times.
  • Consumers progress notes be maintained and completed daily or as needed on the prescribed forms.
  • Consumers records must be maintained weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly. All information must be filed in consumers records as needed and updated as prescribed by funding sources.

This is a safety-sensitive function. Must be able to pass background checks/drug screen and maintain a clean driving record along with a valid AR driver's license and reliable transportation with state minimum liability insurance.
