JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the thorough cleaning of resident accommodations and various facility areas, both inside and outside, under the guidance of the Housekeeping Supervisor. Play a vital role in fostering a positive physical and emotional environment for residents.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience relevant to the role is required. Candidates must possess the ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions effectively. A positive and cooperative attitude towards residents, families, and fellow staff members is essential. Regular attendance is mandatory. Compliance with local health regulations and successful completion of any required post-employment health assessments, including drug screening and background checks, is necessary.

Essential Job Functions

Cleaning Duties

Perform cleaning tasks (such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and polishing) in resident rooms, offices, and communal areas; ensure that residents' rooms are safe, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing while safeguarding personal belongings.

Address spills, soiled areas, and other issues as identified or instructed. Maintain safety standards for equipment and workspaces, adhering strictly to procedures for handling cleaning agents and hazardous materials.

Ensure that cleaning supplies and equipment are stored properly and that infection control, safety, and sanitation protocols are followed. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment malfunctions promptly.

Administrative Responsibilities

Document all incidents and accidents. Adhere to established cleaning schedules and coordinate daily housekeeping tasks with other departments. Maintain cleaning carts and supplies to ensure they are adequately stocked.

Exterior and Floor Maintenance

Perform floor care tasks such as stripping, waxing, and buffing as directed; assist in moving and replacing furniture; clean outdoor and storage areas as needed.

Safety Compliance

Follow all company safety policies and regulations related to fire and life safety, as well as employee and patient safety. This includes a zero-tolerance policy for harassment and violence, adherence to infection control procedures, and safe patient handling practices. Assist in patient evacuation during emergencies as required.

Meet the general health standards established by facility policies.

Residents' Rights and Relationship Building

Understand and promote all regulations regarding residents' rights. Foster positive interactions with residents, visitors, and regulatory bodies, maintaining a professional appearance at all times.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

This role is physically demanding and requires: walking, standing, reaching, bending, crouching, grasping, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting objects. The ability to work at a fast pace throughout the shift is essential.

Regularly lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally handle items over 50 pounds. Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders is necessary. Manual dexterity for operating equipment and performing tasks is required.

Must have a functional understanding of English, including the ability to read, write, and follow instructions, as well as communicate verbally with residents and staff. The ability to hear and respond to communications is also necessary.

Recognize and differentiate smells, tastes, and temperatures. Maintain composure in emergency situations and when managing multiple tasks.

Additional Responsibilities

Adhere to the Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy, including documentation and reporting duties. Participate in assigned Quality Improvement initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned or required.

This position may require long hours and frequent weekend shifts. It is located in a healthcare facility that operates 24/7, including holidays and during adverse weather conditions.
