Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanic II to join our team at Government Jobs. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements
  • Diagnose and repair complex problems with vehicles and heavy equipment using diagnostic computer and software from various manufacturers
  • Assist the Fleet Superintendent in setting repair priorities, reviewing work, and maintaining standards
  • Train and mentor junior mechanics to ensure high-quality work and efficient workflow
  • Coordinate shop workload and ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and perform related duties as needed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy equipment or automotive repair
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic computer and software from various manufacturers
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced shop environment with frequent exposure to loud noises, heavy equipment, and hazardous materials. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
