Job Summary

The Art Instructor will provide a supportive environment for artists with disabilities, facilitating their creative growth and development through various art forms.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work closely with artists to stimulate creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills, helping them reach their full potential in the art career path.
  2. Provide positive reinforcement, modeling positive behaviors and offering constructive feedback to enable artists to be as independent and self-sufficient as possible.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date progress notes, ensuring compliance with CARF standards and Goodwill policies.
  4. Instruct artists in proper tool and supply usage, promoting safe and effective artistic practices.
  5. Assist in the presentation and display of completed artwork, showcasing artists' talents and achievements.
  6. Participate in art exhibitions and events to promote artists' work and engage with the community.
  7. Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  8. Collaborate with colleagues to monitor program standards, ensuring compliance with CARF, CMH, and Goodwill regulations.
  9. Provide exceptional customer service, greeting customers, making sales, and handling monies collected.
  10. Participate in artist-centered planning meetings, working together to set goals and objectives.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the program.
Requirements
  • Experience in the visual arts, with the ability to provide artistic guidance and direction.
  • English/Spanish bilingualism is an asset, as is experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • A diversified job background is beneficial, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, with a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Cellular telephone required for communication and coordination.
