Job Opportunity

Wilkes University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in Africana Studies. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to provide leadership and guidance for the Africana Studies minor program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the Africana Studies minor program, including working with University Chairs to engage instructors and developing new courses.
  • Teach required courses for the minor, including Introduction to Africana Studies, and contribute other courses that serve the minor.
  • Oversee program assessment and review of curriculum, and publicize the minor and recruit students.
  • Advise and mentor minors in the program, engage in outreach to student organizations, and facilitate extracurricular and co-curricular programs.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline in hand by the time of appointment.
  • Expertise in Africana Studies or a related discipline.
  • Ability to teach required courses for the minor and contribute other courses that serve the minor.
