Job Title: Direct Support Professional Artworks

Job Summary:

The Art Instructor will provide a person-centered planning and a safe environment for the artists by introducing and facilitating the creation of art through a variety of media, following the Art Works process, and assisting adults with disabilities with developing vocational skills while producing sellable art.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work hands-on with artists to motivate and stimulate creativity, innovation, and independent problem solving to help artists reach their highest potential in the art career path.
  2. Support progress through positive reinforcement; modeling positive employee behaviors and giving constructive feedback. Enable the artists to be as independent and self-sufficient as possible.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date progress notes.
  4. Instruct artists in proper care and use of tools and supplies.
  5. Assist in the hanging and presentation of artist's completed artwork.
  6. Participate in art shows and events to promote the artists' work.
  7. Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.
  8. Assists in monitoring program standards in compliance with CARF standards, recipient's rights, CMH, and Goodwill policies and procedures.
  9. Assist with customers in the store front, greeting customers, making sales, and being responsible for monies collected.
  10. Participate in artist's person-centered planning meetings.
  11. Completes other duties as assigned.

  1. CARF: Ensure documentation and compliance with CARF standards.
  2. Safety: Maintain applicable safety standards, rules, and regulations in areas of responsibility.
  3. Outcome Driven: Have S.M.A.R.T objectives to drive performance and improve Goodwill's value to the community.
  4. Stakeholder Focused: Work with integrity and provide exemplary customer services to internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Accountability: Have key metrics that drive performance taking a leadership role in maximizing the social and financial return of the community resources invested in Goodwill.
  6. Financial Stability: Utilize the resources of the organization in an efficient and effective manner.
  7. Strategic Visioning: Commitment to innovation, continuous learning, and leading change in creating community value.
  8. Professionalism: Demonstrate a genuine interest in serving the needs of others and a positive attitude toward the community, co-workers, and individuals we serve. Represent the organization to the public with a courteous, helpful and business-like attitude.
  9. Assists with arranging staffing's with the person and appropriate support groups and individuals.
  10. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork.
  11. Attends weekly Job Coach Meetings and special trainings.
  12. Ensures documentation and compliance with CARF Standards.
  13. Adjusts work hours to include early and late meetings, work schedules, and contacts at various locations.
  14. Carries out additional duties as assigned by the Workforce Manager or designee.

Requirements:

Experience in the visual arts and the ability to provide artistic guidance and direction in a wide variety of media.

Preferred Qualifications:

English/Spanish bilingual is helpful. Experience working with persons with disabilities is helpful. A diversified job background is helpful. The incumbent shall:

  • Must be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED within 30 days of employment.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Have an acceptable driving record (all Job Coaches);
  • Have a driver's license and be able to drive from location to location.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid chauffeur's license (LINC Job Coaches only);
  • Have a cellular telephone.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds, and be able to perform various job site duties with the ability to demonstrate work for training purposes.
