Position Summary:

The Heavy Vehicle Operator is responsible for transporting goods, materials, and personnel between various facilities, including manufacturing sites, distribution centers, and retail locations. This role may involve loading and unloading cargo, performing minor mechanical repairs, and ensuring the vehicle is maintained in optimal condition. The operator will typically drive a straight truck with a capacity exceeding 4 tons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate cargo vehicles as directed, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Load and unload vehicles, utilizing manual equipment such as forklifts and handcarts.
  • Conduct inventory checks of outbound freight against manifests prior to loading.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and ensure proper use of seatbelts in equipped vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage and tonnage for reporting purposes.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on vehicles as per established guidelines.
  • Assist with warehouse operations as needed, following supervisor instructions.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Equipment Used: Straight trucks, material handling equipment, computer systems, and various forklifts.

Work Environment: The role involves working in outdoor and warehouse settings, with potential exposure to extreme weather conditions. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing, and occasional climbing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience operating a tractor-trailer (Class A).
  • Valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift license.

Security Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain necessary background checks.
