Job Objective
We are seeking a skilled Shop Service Technician to enhance our customer service objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in heavy equipment service and support, demonstrate a commitment to safety, and have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring a clean and organized workspace free from hazards.
- Utilize various techniques and tools to inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues across a range of heavy equipment.
- Document equipment repairs and maintenance accurately to ensure proper billing and service records.
- Overhaul and test machinery to verify operational efficiency.
- Conduct performance tests on mechanical products post-repair to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Report any additional work needed or visible damage to the shop manager, including safety concerns.
- Perform cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles as necessary.
- Stay updated on changes in equipment models sold and serviced, enhancing technical knowledge through training.
- Execute other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School diploma with completion of an accredited technical program in diesel engine, hydraulics, or heavy equipment repair preferred.
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic is essential.
- Possession of personal tools is required.
- Experience with Volvo or similar dealership environments is a plus.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic testing and tuning equipment.
- Familiarity with computer systems and maintenance software is preferred.
- Advanced understanding of technical software applications relevant to the industry is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to sit, stoop, kneel, push, climb, reach overhead, lift up to 60 lbs., and work in various weather conditions.
Work Environment
The position typically involves working in a field/shop setting. Employees may be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and could occasionally encounter extreme temperatures, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the workplace is moderate.
