Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, program, and operate various machining equipment.
  • Machine components to precise tolerances.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Calculate and verify dimensions to ensure precision.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and promptly report any unsafe conditions.
  • Identify and comprehend critical flight/product safety components and processes.
  • Immediately report any safety concerns related to flight/products.
  • Engage in proactive risk assessments of critical safety components and processes.
  • Interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates, and layouts to determine machining tasks.
  • Measure and layout workpieces while computing dimensions and tolerances.
  • Verify product dimensions for accuracy and compliance using precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers; troubleshoot and modify to meet performance expectations.
  • Adjust and prepare machine tools for operation by machining tool operators.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Cross-train in complementary skills and seek endorsements as necessary to meet production needs.
  • Adapt to various production assignments that require multiple skill endorsements.
  • Assist in the cross-training of fellow technicians as needed to support production goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and report any unsafe practices or conditions immediately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational Qualifications:

Completion of high school and a diploma from a technical college or training program.

Technical Skills:
  • High level of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, tool design, fabrication methods, metallurgy, and heat treatment.
  • Familiarity with company protocols, rework instructions, OEM manuals, and MSDS labels.
  • Understanding of production management systems and related internal controls.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • Trade certification attainment.
  • One to three years of directly or indirectly related work experience demonstrating continuous learning necessary for competent job performance.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Capability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
  • Capacity to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Basic knowledge of welding, hydraulics, electricity, and pneumatics.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
