Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, program, and operate various machining equipment.
  • Manufacture components adhering to strict tolerances.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively to ensure optimal quality.
  • Calculate and verify dimensions to guarantee precision.
  • Adhere to all relevant safety protocols and promptly report any unsafe conditions.
  • Identify and comprehend critical flight/product safety components and processes.
  • Immediately report any safety concerns related to flight/products.
  • Engage in proactive risk assessments for critical flight/product components and processes.
  • Interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates, and layouts to determine machining tasks.
  • Measure and layout workpieces while computing dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ensure product dimensions are accurate and meet specifications using precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers. Troubleshoot and modify processes to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Adjust and prepare machine tools for operation by machining tool operators.
  • Contribute to the continuous enhancement of cell processes.
  • Cross-train in complementary skills and seek endorsements as necessary to meet production needs.
  • Adapt to various production assignments requiring multiple skill endorsements as needed.
  • Assist in the cross-training of fellow technicians to support production demands.
  • Consistently observe safety requirements and report any unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational Background:

A high school diploma along with completion of a technical training program at a college or technical institution.

Technical Skills:
  • High level of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, tool design, fabrication methods, metallurgy, and heat treatment.
  • Familiarity with relevant company guidelines, processes, rework instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals, and MSDS labels.
  • Proficient in production management computer systems and related internal control systems.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • Achievement of trade certification.
  • One to three years of directly or indirectly related work experience essential for performing this role competently.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Capability to read and interpret manuals, technical drawings, and blueprints.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Able to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Working knowledge of welding, hydraulics, electricity, and pneumatics.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
