Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, program, and operate various machining equipment.
  • Machine components to precise tolerances.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively to ensure optimal quality.
  • Calculate and verify dimensions to guarantee accuracy.
  • Adhere to all relevant safety protocols and promptly report any unsafe conditions.
  • Identify and comprehend critical flight/product safety components and processes.
  • Immediately report any safety concerns related to flight/products.
  • Engage in proactive risk assessments of critical flight/product safety components and processes.
  • Interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates, and layouts to determine machining tasks.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances, and measure and layout workpieces.
  • Verify product dimensions for accuracy and compliance with specifications using precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers. Troubleshoot, debug, and modify processes to meet performance expectations.
  • Adjust and prepare machine tools for use by machining operators.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes.
  • Cross-train in complementary skills and seek endorsements as necessary to meet production needs.
  • Transition between production tasks that require multiple skill endorsements as needed.
  • Assist in the cross-training of fellow technicians as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and report any unsafe practices or conditions immediately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational Qualifications:

A high school diploma along with completion of a technical training program at a college or technical institution.

Technical Skills:
  • High level of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, tool design, fabrication methods, metallurgy, and heat treatment.
  • Familiarity with company guidelines, processes, rework instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals, and MSDS labels.
  • Understanding of production management systems and related internal controls.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • Trade certification attainment.
  • Relevant work experience, typically one to three years, necessary for competent job performance.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
  • Capability to read and interpret manuals, technical drawings, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Basic knowledge of welding, hydraulics, electricity, and pneumatics.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
