Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for reviewing patient records, interviewing patients and family members, performing laboratory testing, administering vaccines and medications, and documenting patient information. You will also be responsible for conducting basic parent and child education, communicating effectively with patients and families, and following universal precautions and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities
  • Review patient records for past medical problems, medication and immunization status, drug allergies, risk factors, and other pertinent information.
  • Interview patients and/or family members for appropriate information and obtain vital statistics indicated for the age, gender, and type of visit.
  • Perform laboratory testing and administer vaccines, analgesics, and nebulization treatments in accordance with established standards and office policy.
  • Observe, document, and report to provider and nursing staff patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments.
  • Complete applicable documentation for the patient visit.
  • Conduct basic parent and child education to include anticipatory guidance in accordance with office policy and as delegated by providers and leadership.
  • Role model excellent clinical skills with patients.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously while demonstrating a caring attitude toward patients and family.
  • Follow universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations to include maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Perform additional responsibilities to support the needs of the practice and patient families.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential required. There are no exceptions to this certification requirement.
  • At least six (6) months of direct patient care experience as a CCMA/RMA Medical Assistant - one year or greater is strongly preferred.
  • Experience administering immunizations for pediatric patients is strongly preferred.
  • Practical understanding of OSHA, HIPPA, and CDC Guidelines.
