Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Eaton Rapids Medical Center. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for medical visits by escorting them to the examination room, providing examination gowns and drapes, and assisting with positioning for examinations and treatments.
  • Verify patient information by interviewing patients, reconciling and queuing medications, reviewing and recording medical history, taking vital signs, weight, and other pertinent information.
  • Confirm the purpose of the visit or patient care delivery by assisting healthcare providers during examinations, preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic laboratory tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, sterilizing medical instruments, and administering medications.
  • Educate patients by providing medication and diet information, answering questions, and providing discharge instructions and scheduling follow-up appointments as instructed by the provider.
  • Take telephone messages, provide feedback, and answer questions from patients, providers, and pharmacies, and document all logs and required checks.
  • Maintain treatment rooms, restock, clean, and transport instruments to the OR for sterilization.
  • Practice within the guidelines of the job description and refer patients to the provider if unable to provide or satisfy patient needs or answer questions.
  • Contribute to Quality Improvement and Job Hazard Analysis processes for the department.
  • Effectively maintain ongoing communication with coworkers and the practice manager, keeping them informed of pertinent information affecting patient care, provider issues, and departmental concerns.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills in dealing with providers, staff, peers, and the public.
Requirements
  • BLS certification required upon hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • High School diploma and Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic education completed upon hire.
  • CMA or RMA certification required within 6 months of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Willingness to obtain State of Michigan TB Certification.
  • One year of medical experience preferred.
