Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Transporter to join our team at Durham Exchange Club Industries. As a Patient Transporter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of patients within our VA Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to various locations within the medical center, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff to provide excellent customer service and ensure a smooth transportation experience.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and broadcast codes, utilizing your knowledge of the medical center's routes and protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with the dispatcher and medical staff to ensure efficient and safe transportation operations.
  • Maintain a high level of physical fitness, as the role requires continuous walking, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering wheelchairs and stretchers.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use handheld two-way radios effectively.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts to meet staffing needs.
  • Pass a pre-employment screening, including a drug test and federal background check.
