Cathcart Rail is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Railroad Conductor to join our team as a Transloading Specialist. This is a critical role that requires strong communication and coordination skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and communicate with truck drivers to ensure seamless transloading operations
- Supervise the transloading of products, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Respond to emails and other communications regarding transloading operations
- Perform work in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures
- Ensure railcars are spotted correctly and in a timely manner for transloading
- Conduct the movement of railcars and trains, signaling crew members for movement and ensuring safe operation
- Operate track switches to change the direction of engines or cars within yard limits or on the main track
- Read and understand written and printed materials, including the book of rules, timetables, and safety instructions
- Prepare daily reports, switch lists, and other documentation as required
- Inspect the condition of trains and equipment in movement and while stationary
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver's license required
- Two years of work experience in a transportation or heavy industrial environment required; relevant rail experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with all outdoor working conditions
- Candidates must enjoy heavy, outdoor, hands-on work
The position involves performing heavy work, lifting up to 100 pounds, and frequent or constant bending, reaching, and climbing. The individual must have excellent eye-hand coordination and be able to grasp. They must also be able to stand or sit for long periods of time and walk about on foot to accomplish tasks.
Working ConditionsThe location of work performed (out-of-doors) and the tools and material used in the surrounding work-place expose the incumbent to the following conditions on a regular basis: weather, noise, vibrations, dust, and pollen. The job requires the individual to follow standard safety procedures, be alert, and take necessary precautions to avoid possible injuries or health problems.
