Job Summary

Cathcart Rail is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transloading Conductor to join our team. As a key member of our rail operations team, you will be responsible for assisting in the transloading process between railcars and trucks, ensuring safe and efficient movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and communicate with truck drivers to ensure seamless transloading operations
  • Climb railcars to open hatches and place/remove hoses, supervising the transloading of product
  • Respond to emails and coordinate with team members to ensure timely and accurate transloading
  • Perform work in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all safety protocols and wearing required PPE
  • Ensure railcars are spotted correctly and in a timely manner for transloading
  • Conduct the movement of rail cars and train movements, signaling crew members for movement and observing/interpreting signals
  • Operate track switches to change the direction of engines or cars within yard limits or on the main track
  • Read and understand the book of rules, timetables, bulletins, train orders, waybills, placards, safety instructions, and other written or printed material
  • Prepare daily reports, switch lists, and fill out forms as required
  • Inspect the condition of trains and equipment in movement and while stationary
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Two years of work experience, with relevant rail experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with all outdoor working conditions
Working Conditions

The position involves performing heavy work, lifting up to 100 pounds, and frequent or constant bending, reaching, and climbing. The individual must have excellent eye-hand coordination and ability to grasp. The position also requires the ability to stand or sit for long periods, walk about on foot, and maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling.
