SUMMARY:

Assist the POD facilities and other locations as necessary in their daily operations, which include the development of system protocols, conducting audits, supporting new product initiatives, and implementing Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems.

This role will also involve direct participation in various tasks typically associated with a Quality Engineer, such as drafting procedures, performing audits, and visiting plants.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Oversee and assist in the following areas:Support for new project initiatives at plantsAddressing customer-related issues at plantsConducting annual corporate quality audits (scheduling, corrective actions at plants)Creating new procedural guidelinesAddressing all Quality Management System (QMS) needs at plantsDeveloping and initiating new corporate proceduresAssisting customers with third-party audits of Silgan facilitiesCollaborating closely with Product Development Engineers to schedule support for new projectsProviding assistance to plants and customers as directed.

Work alongside Silgan Product Development Engineers and clients to establish specifications and testing methodologies as required.

Facilitate training or provide training opportunities for the corporate Quality engineering teamOffer recommendations for measurement and inspection toolsRespond to customer inquiries regarding the Quality systemPrepare presentations related to Quality for customers and plantsConduct supplier and corporate internal auditsAct as the POD leader for plants where the Quality Manager is a POD LeaderCollaborate with customers, plants, and engineering to develop Test Specifications (TST) when necessaryTrain Quality technicians and Quality Managers as needed.

EDUCATION:

Required:
A minimum of a 2-year degree in Quality, Statistics, Engineering, Management, or a related field, along with applicable ASQ certifications.

Preferred:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Quality, Statistics, Engineering, Management, or a related field. ASQ certifications are advantageous.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 5-10 years of experience in a Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, or similar role.

Preferred:
5-10 years of experience as a Quality Engineering Manager within the blow molding or packaging sector.

SKILLS:

Required:
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of international quality standards relevant to our facilities and clients (GFSI Pac Secure, ISO 9001, ISO 15378, IMS, etc.)

Management of Quality systemsLeadership skills: Recognizing strengths and weaknesses in oneself and othersExcellent listening and questioning abilitiesExceptional communication and training skills regarding Silgan policies and proceduresAbility to collaborate effectively with others towards shared goalsUnderstanding of Quality systems auditingStrong project management capabilitiesProficient technical writing skillsAbility to interpret engineering drawingsFamiliarity with ANSI/ASQ/MilStd sampling plansStrong mathematical and basic algebra skillsProficient in computer operations and related softwareKnowledge of good manufacturing practices (cGMP)

Practical knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologiesAbility to identify root causes, devise innovative solutions to challenges, and continuously enhance systems and processesProficient in developing and leading statistical sampling plans.

Preferred (including all of the above):

Formally trained team facilitator for continuous improvement initiativesPractical understanding of lean manufacturing principlesKnowledge of FDA regulations as outlined in 21 CFR, parts 110, 210, and 211Familiarity with related molding and decorating processes.
