POSITION SUMMARY:

This role involves providing support to the POD plants and other facilities as necessary, assisting with daily operations, developing system protocols, conducting audits, and facilitating new project initiatives. The position requires active participation in various Quality Engineer responsibilities, including writing procedures, performing audits, and visiting plants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and assist in the following areas:
  • Support for new project initiatives at plants
  • Addressing customer-related issues at plants
  • Conducting annual corporate quality audits (planning, corrective actions at plants)
  • Creating new procedural documents
  • Facilitating all plant Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
    • Manage and enhance procedural systems
    • Develop and implement new corporate procedures
    • Assist customers with third-party audits of Silgan facilities
    • Collaborate with Product Development Engineers to schedule support for new projects
    • Provide assistance to plants and customers as required.
    • Work alongside Silgan Product Development Engineers and customers to
develop specifications and testing methodologies as necessary.
  • Conduct training or offer training opportunities for corporate Quality engineering personnel
  • Recommend gaging and inspection tools
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding the Quality system
  • Prepare presentations related to Quality for customers and plants
  • Execute supplier and corporate internal audits
  • Act as POD leader for plants where a Quality Manager is designated as a POD Leader
  • Collaborate with customers, plants, and engineering to develop Technical Support Tools (TST) when required
  • Train Quality technicians and Quality Managers as necessary
AUTHORITY LEVEL (if applicable):

EDUCATION:

Required: A minimum of a 2-year degree in Quality, Statistics, Engineering, Management, or a related field, along with applicable ASQ certifications.

Preferred: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Quality, Statistics, Engineering, Management, or a related field. ASQ certifications are advantageous.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 5-10 years of experience in a Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, or similar role.

Preferred: 5-10 years of experience as a Quality Engineering Manager in the blow molding or packaging sector.

SKILLS:

Required:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international quality standards relevant to our plants and clients (GFSI Pac Secure, ISO 9001, ISO 15378, IMS, etc.)
  • Support for Quality system management
  • Leadership skills: Recognizing strengths and weaknesses in oneself and others
Exceptional listening and questioning abilities Strong communication and training skills regarding Silgan policies and procedures Ability to collaborate effectively with others towards shared goals Knowledge of Quality systems auditing Good project management capabilities Strong technical writing skills Ability to interpret engineering drawings Familiarity with ANSI/ASQ/MilStd sampling plans Proficient in mathematics and basic algebra Skilled in operating computers and related software Understanding of good manufacturing practices (cGMP) Practical knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies Aptitude for identifying root causes, devising innovative solutions, and continuously enhancing systems and processes Proficient in creating and leading statistical sampling plans Preferred (including all of the above):
  • Formally trained in team facilitation for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Practical understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations as specified in 21 CFR, parts 110, 210, and 211
  • Familiarity with related molding and decorating processes
