Job Summary

The Texas A&M University System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatics Operations Coordinator to join our team. This role will be responsible for the daily management of the aquatics facility and programming, as well as shared responsibility for other facility operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Great OutRoars, including the heated leisure pool, hot tub, basketball courts, event pavilion, and sunbathing area.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Cain Sports Complex, including the activity fields, tennis complex, sand volleyball complex, and equipment check out locker.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate student employees for areas of responsibility, including head guards, lifeguards, and safety instructors.
  • Directly supervise student payroll for assigned areas, ensuring compliance with departmental and university regulations.
  • Lead monthly Lifeguard in-services and ensure aquatics staff training is within local and state compliance for operation.
  • Oversee pool water testing, administering chemicals to maintain proper pool levels, chemical supply ordering, and proper storage of chemicals.
  • Coordinate all Aquatic programming, including a comprehensive adult and child swim lesson program.
  • Oversee the Aquatics program budget and purchase equipment and supplies for the Great OutRoars area.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, evaluation, and enforcement of all rules and regulations pertaining to aquatics and facility operations.
  • Assist with risk management for the department by supervising safety instructors and managing the CPR class schedule.
  • Evaluate and reduce risk in the aquatics and facility operations areas, ensuring student staff certifications and trainings are up to date.
  • Serve as a liaison for Campus Recreation and assist external and internal partners with the coordination and supervision of the preventative maintenance plan for all aquatics equipment associated with the Morris Recreation Center.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of long-term and short-term goals for the department of Campus Recreation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in aquatic and/or facility management in a collegiate, community, or private programming setting.
  • Lifeguard Certification.
  • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one other aquatic certification, such as Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard Instructor, or Water Safety Instructor Trainer.
Work Environment
  • Office environment/aquatics environment/sports field environment.
  • Non-smoking environment.
  • Low to moderate noise.
  • Local, regional, and national travel as applicable.
Physical Demands
  • Sitting at desk or table for at least 50% of the workday.
  • Stopping or moving for at least 50% of the workday.
  • Repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement (while operating computer equipment).
