Position Overview

The Logistics Yard Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring driver and customer satisfaction at the designated location while achieving company objectives related to Safety & Compliance, Customer Service, and annual targets. This position demands exceptional communication and customer relations skills. The Supervisor will oversee scheduling for drivers, manage administrative responsibilities such as payroll and purchase order issuance, and coordinate equipment maintenance. Additionally, the Supervisor will monitor driver performance to ensure adherence to company policies and compliance with state, federal, and DOT regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prioritize Safety, Service, Cost Management, Professionalism, and Respect
  • Oversee the dispatching of Class A Drivers
  • Ensure customer satisfaction, optimal equipment utilization, and compliance with DOT regulations
  • Facilitate accurate load entry, dispatching, and timely deliveries
  • Manage freight bill creation with meticulous attention to detail
  • Provide backup support for administrative tasks as necessary
  • Enforce all company safety policies and ensure understanding among staff
  • Assist in safety training initiatives through bulletins and monthly meetings
  • Support the completion of Monthly IIPP Yard and Office Safety Checklists and report findings
  • Ensure compliance with Hours of Service regulations, DOT/State regulations, and company safety policies, including auditing DOT Paper-logs and/or E-logs
  • Guarantee that all assigned tractors and trailers undergo PM/BIT inspections within required timelines, and that equipment damages are recorded promptly
  • Ensure accountability for preventable damages and conduct daily audits of fuel purchases
  • Manage current projects and reporting requirements as assigned by the Site Manager
Qualifications:
  • Exceptional internal and external customer relations skills with the ability to implement safety and compliance in line with company policies
  • Proven leadership abilities and a collaborative approach within the workplace, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and respect
  • Adaptability and flexibility in all areas of responsibility
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines
  • Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior experience in yard management and with yard hostlers
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the transportation sector, including routing and dispatching
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Operations, Hours of Service regulations, and DOT/State Regulations within the transportation industry
  • CDL certification is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications, including MS Word and Excel
Compensation: $66,000 - $68,000/year base salary

This salary range is an estimate based on various factors, including skills, experience, education, market conditions, geographical location, budget considerations, and demand.
