Role Overview

The Tax Compliance Onboarding Consultant role is ideal for individuals eager to grow professionally within the FinTech sector. Our compact team is driven by a shared passion for addressing the challenges faced by small businesses. With a diverse mix of experienced professionals, including those with successful startup exits and extensive finance backgrounds, Uplinq offers exceptional mentorship and learning opportunities that are rare in the industry.

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating client onboarding processes and gathering essential documentation.
  • Conducting follow-ups with clients and managing internal workflows.
  • Preparing and reviewing a variety of intricate tax returns for both individuals and businesses.

This role demands a solid understanding of tax regulations, excellent communication abilities, strong proficiency in Excel, and a proven capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in tax preparation for small businesses, including federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adept at managing complex workflows and projects.
  • Effective engagement with high-value clients to optimize their account setups and enhance their experience with Uplinq's services.
  • Leadership capabilities in tax-related tasks, utilizing Uplinq's technology solutions to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Expertise in onboarding clients for tax preparation, ensuring a smooth transition to the Tax Operations team.
  • Exceptional communication skills to convey complex tax and accounting information clearly.
  • A minimum of 3 years of tax preparation experience, with a preference for candidates with multi-client exposure.
  • Proficiency in reviewing financial statements and tax filings.
  • A drive for continuous improvement in Uplinq's automated bookkeeping and tax systems.
  • Familiarity with tax software such as Drake, ProSeries, Lacerte, or similar; experience with Sharefile and QBO is a plus.
  • An active EA or CPA certification is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related fields is preferred.
