Job Summary

SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a highly skilled Student Accounts Specialist- Provisional to join our Finance Office team. This is a provisional appointment pending satisfactory completion of the Civil Service testing requirement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process complex financial transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Process payments for students and third parties in a timely manner.
  • Track, audit, and monitor various documents related to student accounting.
  • Prepare moderately complex reports to support financial decision-making.
  • Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries regarding student accounts and financial status.
  • Collaborate with third-party collection agencies to resolve outstanding accounts.
Requirements
  • Minimum qualifications include a degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel is required, as well as strong customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to analyze and organize data, prepare reports, and maintain spreadsheets is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and campus constituencies.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team is critical to success in this role.
Additional Information

The hourly salary for this position is $22.00. Offers of employment will be conditional upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
